‘Is Time Running Out? – Tick Tock’ ⏰

Welcome to my 4th Blog Post, 2023.

The average life expectancy in the USA is 74.5 years for males and 80.2 years for women, ranking 46th globally, and yet, we have one of the best healthcare systems in the world. Hong Kong, yes, Hong Kong surprisingly leads the world at 82.9 for men and 88 years for women. Chad is dead last (no pun intended), with males living 51.2 years and women 54.4 years.

Let’s assume life is an American football game that has four quarters. If you are an American male, age 74, or a woman, age 80, you are in the 2-Minute Warning of the 4th quarter and potentially have no time-outs remaining. So, quick move to Hong Kong. Or to one of the five Blue Zones places where people live the longest and are healthiest: Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California.

Check out the recipes.

So, what’s killing us?

According to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention

Data are for the U.S. deaths for leading causes of death

  • Heart disease: 695,547

  • Cancer: 605,213

  • COVID-19: 416,893

  • Accidents (unintentional injuries): 224,935

  • Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 162,890

  • Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 142,342

  • Alzheimer’s disease: 119,399

  • Diabetes: 103,294

  • Chronic liver disease and cirrhosis: 56,585

  • Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 54,358

The effort to “delay human death” will be worth $600 billion by 2025. It’s giving rapid rise to new “health-span” and longevity clinics from Liv Lounge in Zurich to The Longevity Suite across Italy, showing anti-aging is big business and is opening “biohacking & anti-age clinics” across Italy, with plans to enter Portugal and the Middle East.

And most likely expensive to partake in.
